About

We are a congregation of diverse people united by one common reality:

we are sinners reconciled to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Having been shown such amazing grace from God, we exist:

To exalt Jesus Christ, our risen Savior and reigning Lord,

by the power of the Holy Spirit,

to the glory of God the Father.

Sunday School

Sundays / 9:30am

We offer both adult and children Sunday School.

Worship Service

Sundays / 10:30am

  • From the beginning to the end of our service, we worship God by hearing him speak to us from the reading and preaching of his word, and by speaking back to him his word in prayer, song, and with an "Amen!"

We begin by hearing God call us into his presence to worship him from his word. After the prayer of confession and petition, we hear God speak to us from his word assuring us of his pardoning grace for our sins because of the blood of Christ. We hear God speak to us through the public reading of Scripture and through the preaching of the word of God. At the end of the service, we hear God speak to us in a closing benediction from his word.

The worship and government of the church is regulated by the Scriptures alone and not by the will or invention of men.

  • Our service reflects the many kinds of prayers found in the word of God, characteristic of the Christian life.

In the prayer of praise, we call upon the name of the Lord and praise him. In the prayer of confession and petition, we confess our sins to the Lord and petition him for mercy in Christ. In the prayer of intercession, we intercede before the throne of God on behalf of others. Before the reading of the word of God, we ask God to illumine our minds to understand his word. After the preaching of God's word, we ask the Lord to bless the preaching.

The prayers are lead by the pastors.

  • Congregational singing is emphasized in the public worship of God. Expect to sing a blend of old and new, of modern and traditional hymns, and arrangements of psalms, containing rich and robust theology.

To support the voice of the congregation, singing is accompanied with instruments, either by piano or acoustic guitar. Hymnals for use in singing are provided, as well as a screen with lyrics projected on it.

  • The centerpiece of the worship of God is hearing him speak to us through the reading and preaching of his word.

HRBC is committed to the expositional preaching of God's word by men called, gifted, and graced by the Holy Spirit. In expositional preaching, the meaning of the Scriptures are explained and heralded. Expect to regularly hear consecutive expositional sermons from the word of God, that is, preaching verse-by-verse through books of the Bible, and on occasion topical expositional sermons from various texts of Scripture.

  • We believe that proportionate giving is a distinct and positive command in Scripture and is itself an act of worship of God.

Following the prayer of intercession, the offering basket is passed through the pews by our volunteers in order to collect the offerings.

  • Baptism is an act of worship where an individual goes public with their faith in Christ Jesus, identifying themselves with God's people, the church. It is a solemn covenant made between God and the individual, and the individual to God and his people. Baptism is by immersion in water in obedience to our Lord Jesus' command (Matthew 28:19), symbolizing the individual's union by faith with Christ in Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, and the individual's walk in newness of life (Romans 6:1-5). Baptism is requisite for membership in the visible church and participation in its privileges.

  • We observe the Lord's supper once a month on the first Sunday, after the preaching of the word of God.

Those who are Christians, having been born again by the Holy Spirit, demonstrating repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, baptized upon their profession of faith, and are members of a true church, that is, a church that preaches and believes the same Gospel and fundamentals of the faith (the doctrine of the Trinity; the true humanity and true deity of Christ; justification by faith alone through grace alone in Christ alone) and are in good standing with their church, that is, are not unrepentantly living in sin or under some form of discipline, are welcomed to partake of the Lord's supper with HRBC.

Prayer Meeting

Wednesdays / 6:30pm

We gather together to worship God by reading his word, listening to a brief meditation from the Scriptures, singing a few hymns, and praying together.

The third Wednesday of the month is devoted to praying to the Lord for revival, awakening, evangelism, and missions.

Fellowship Meals

On the third Sunday of the month, we enjoy lunch together following the worship service.

This is a great time of mutual refreshment and encouragement for the body of Christ.

Visitors and guests invited!

Discipleship

Every other Saturday / 7:30-9am

The men of the church meet to discuss a book that instructs in sound doctrine and sound living to the glory of God, and to pray for one another.
